Islamic Online University

Now you have the opportunity to increase your knowledge of Islam by taking Diploma Courses in Islamic studies via the Internet. These courses are free to attend, and gives an introduction to the basic Islamic sciences and knowledge of manhaj or the Prophet (PBUH) way, based on the Quran and authentic Sunnah, in accordance with the understanding of the first generation.

Certificates will be provided for each of the courses and a diploma for those who complete all courses.

Moreover, one can study the online Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies. This is seen as another major step towards helping the Muslims all over the world to seek knowledge about their religion.

This pioneering initiative uses the Internet and advanced online technology, bringing Islamic education at the University level within the reach of everyone who has access to a computer and the internet.

Six courses are offered each semester, which lasts 5 months, has an online mid-term exam after two and a half months and one  exam at the end of the fifth month. Students are free to access their classes when it suits them, but the assignments and exams (midterm and final) must be taken at set times.

There are no fees for the courses, only a registration fee and examination fee each semester (from $ 20 to $ 60), depending on the student's homecountry. Islamic Online University (IOU) is founded by Dr. Bilal Philips. IOU was launched in 2007 from Qatar and started with 1,500 students, by the end of 2008 tripled the number of registered students, and in 2010 had IOU a student body of over 30 000 students from over 177 different countries.
