Redeemer of the Fire

To Allah belong all praise and prayers, and peace be upon him who was sent to mankind, Mohammad, and his family, his companions and everyone who follow him.

How many are redeemed by Allah? Those who were slaves and lived in extravagance. After the humiliation of sins and disobedience they became kings and noble, and some of them became kings in the hereafter after they were saved from the Hellfire.

Rejoice with the Prophets (SAWS) glad tidings, he said to Abu Bakr (RA): “You are redeemed from the fire by Allah.” [Tirmidhi and AlHakim].

This is only given to those with true faith, we hope those who are trapped in their sins will be forgiven and that those who are destined for Hell become redeemed. We ask Allah to forgive us our sins and redeem us from the fire.

The Prophet (SAWS) has shown us the way to good deeds which could save us from the Flames. We show you ten examples for what you can try to do daily to save yourself. Allah (SWT) says: “…And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception.” [Koran, 3:185].

 Ten examples of good deeds:

1. Ikhlas: Declaration of faith

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Each and every one of you who at the day of resurrection declare that there is no other god but Allah alone, will be saved from the Flames.” [Al-Bukhari].

Those who follow the straight path are: eager to worship Allah, occupied with worshipping Allah when nobody see him but Allah. Strive to do night prayer, go to the mosque daily, be patience, do hard work etc.

 2. Perform your prayer from the first Takbir (Allaho akbar).

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Whoever prays to Allah for forty days in congregation, catching up with the first takbir, he will be recorded as being free from two things: free from the Fire and free from hypocrisy.” [Tirmidhi].

This is the faith you should have time for, it is 200 salah (5 prayers x 40 days). Regard them as 200 steps towards Paradise. Do you want to lose an opportunity like this? This period will help you forget problems of life and the worries it bring. Do not forget to make du’a to be part of the next salah, and that you do not miss the first takbir.

Remember that when you keep your day with prayer and worship, your nights will also be directed the same way. This is how you avoid sins. You build a way towards good deeds, adhkar, charity etc.

3. Hang on to fajr and asr prayer.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “He who perform prayer before dawn and before sunset will not enter Hell: fajr and aser.” [Muslim].

You should perform salah at its correct time, and do sunnah salah before obligatory salah.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Fajr raka is better than earthly life and all that is in it.” [Muslim].

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “The grace of Allah upon he who performs 4 raka before aser.” [Abo Dawod, Tirmidhi].

Make sure you mention Allah, adhkar and istighfar between adhan and iqama so you are well prepared for salah. This is how you are blessed with piety. Maintain it so you are firm in your belief. Appreciate these two salawat/prayers. Try to sleep early before Fajr salah, go to bed clean for salah, say the evening adhkar and night du’a. About aser, try not to do hard work so you don’t get worn out, or occupy yourself until you forget to do salah at its time.

 4. Hold on to 4 raka before and after dohr salah.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “If anyone keeps on praying regularly four raka before and four after the noon prayer, he will not enter the Hellfire.” [Abo Dawod, Nisai, Tirmidhi].

This gift is only for those who hold on to these nawafil. If you find it hard to perform them so remind you about this: “… will not enter Hellfire.”

 5. Shed tears in fear of Allah.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “A person who cries out of fear of Allah will not enter Hell until milk can go back into the udder and a man will never have both the dust from fighting in the way of Allah and the smoke of Hell.” [Tirmidhi, Nisai]. For those who shed tears out of fear from Allah, congratulation. The hearts get purified by the tears of the eyes. Verily he will end up under The Lords Throne at the great gathering.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “There are seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade: … and a man who remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears.” [Muslim].

Allah appreciates such a deed and it may be a cause for Allah to like you. You do not need to ask for anything at this moment.

 6. Steps for Allah.

Yazid Ibn Abu Maryam (ra) said: “while I was on my way to jumuah, Abaya Bno Rfaa Bno Rafie (ra) caught up with me and said: ‘rejoice for every step to the mosque is for Allah, I heard Abo Abas say: I heard the Prophet saying, ’Anyone whose feet are covered with dust in Allah's cause, shall be saved by Allah from the Hellfire.’"

Do not underestimate the steps you take for Allah to the mosque and specially jumuah.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: "Whoever does ghusl on Friday and causes (his wife) to do ghusl, and sets out early, and comes close to the imam and listens and keeps quiet, for every step he takes he will have the reward of fasting and praying qiyaam for one year." [Imam Ahmed, Ibn Habban, Al Hakim].

Look at which deeds you do for Allah. When you are at the mosque, you help dawah, you help others, help others with their problems, visit the sick, be at funerals etc.

 7. Throw an arrow for the cause of Allah.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Each and every Muslim who throws an arrow for the cause of Allah, whether he hit or not, will get a reward equal of freeing a slave.”

This is for the one jihad is prescribed. If you are not one of them, Allah (SWT) says: “So obey not the disbelievers, but strive against them (by preaching) with the utmost endeavour with the Koran.” [Koran, 25:52]. This is a struggle in knowledge and dawah.

•Throw your arrow in dawah and for the cause of Allah. If you lead a person to faith it is better for you than if you own all that is on the earth. To refer someone to do good deeds is like you do it yourself.

•Throw your arrow to protect the Book of Allah.

•Throw your arrow to maintain the sunnah.

8. Gentleness and ethics.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “He who is down to earth, kind and good with people, will not enter Hellfire.” [Al Hakim].

Al Manawi said: “The Prophet (SAWS) was very kind. He behaved like all the others. If his companions spoke about life on earth, he would participate in the conversation, if they spoke about the hereafter he would participate. If they spoke about food he would participate.”

Allah (SWT) says: “… for the believers he is full of piety, kind, and merciful.” [Koran, 9:128].

 9. Bring up daughters or sisters.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Whoever from my nation who care for 3 daughters or 3 sisters, and treats them well. They will be a veil between him and the fire at the day of Resurrection.” [Al Bayhaqi].

Your efforts by working and care for sustenance, raising your children and/or your sisters and all the time you use for upbringing should be with the intention of worshipping Allah. They are raised to be good people and not for you only to be proud of.

10. Release.

He who gets release from the fire on the day of Resurrection must bring an offer. The Prophet (SAWS) said: “Every Muslim who release another Muslim (from slavery), him/her will be a veil against the Fire, and him/her will get a reward for every bone in the body of the other…” [Tabarani, Abo Dawood, Ibn Madjah, Tirmidhi].

Even if slavery doesn’t occur in our time, it is plenty of good deeds that Allah likes us to do.

The Prophet (SAWS) said: “He who fast Ramadan and then fast the following 6 days of Shawal, will have reward like he fasted the whole year.” Make sure you don’t miss this gift from Allah.”

We ask Allah to show upon us mercy, salvation and release from the Fire.

Amin.
