Comparing the Bliss in this world to the Bliss in the Hereafter
Summary of todays Khutba:
In this Khutba we will discuss the differences between the bliss in this world (presuming one has achieved much) with the bliss in the next life, in Paradise, as well as what Allah has planned for His slaves there. The first difference is that the lifespan in Dunya (this world) is limited, while the lifespan in Akheera (next world) is everlasting. Allah is testing us while staying in Dunya, so He can see how we behave. In the next life comes the reward for ones earnings during the present life. Allah (SWT) have informed us about all bliss and salvation we will experience in Paradise, and this is a huge motivation for people to strive and long for. The Bliss experienced in Dunya and in Akheera is not the same, and the only thing in common is the name, as in the same concept for two different things. Ibn Abbas has told: «Paradise can't be compared to this world, but the sky can», (Sahih Aljame’) Both Dunya og Akheerah worlds has bulidings, but they are different. In this world the house is like a cloud passing by, and in addition it needs regular renovations and repairs. The humans struggle with this maintenance. In Paradise it's the opposite. The Prophet (SAAW) said: «The buildings in Paradise is blocks of silver and blocks of gold, and the stone plates are made of musk with strong smell spreading around. The gravel is of pearls and saffire, and the earth is of saffran». (Ahmed and Ttirmidhi) Allah (SWT) says: «and pleasant dwellings in 'Adn (Eden) Paradise; ” (Assaf 12) There is no bad smell, and there is no garbage at all. In Paradise the tents are not made of fabric, but they are made of hollow pearls. Mentioned in the Hadith: Abu Bakr b. Abdullah b. Qais reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (SAAW) said that in paradise there would be a tent made of a single hollowed pearl, the breadth of which would be sixty miles from all sides and there would live a family in each corner and the other would not be able to see the believer who goes around them. Rivers in Dunya are exposed to pollution and drought, while in Paradise, they are described as «in it are rivers of water incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, a joy to those who drink; and rivers of honey pure and clear». (Muhammad 15) Alkawthar (a river in Paradise) has banks of gold and the stones are of pearls and saffire, and it's smell is fresher than musk, and it's colour is whiter than snow. In Quran we read: «Verily, We have granted you Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise). (Alkawthar 1) Women in Paradise The Prophet (SAAW) said: “....and if one of the women of paradise looked at the earth, she would fill the whole space between them (the earth and the heaven) with light, and would fill whatever is in between them, with perfume, and the veil of her face is better than the whole world and whatever is in it." (Bukhari) And that is only regarding her veil, so one can only imagine about the rest of her clothing.! Women from this world who will enter Paradise, due to their prayers and fasting, and correct worshipping of Allah, will gain large ownerships and rewards in Akheera. All ownership of this world will be extinguished. -------------- Part 2------------------- In this world people may face difficulties which affect their life quality, while in the Hereafter the opposite is true. The Prophet (SAAW) said: “O Allah, There is no goodness except that of the hereafter “. Narrated Sahl: I heard the Prophet (SAAW) said, "A (small) place equal to an area occupied by a whip in paradise is better than the (whole) world and whatever is in it”. (Bukhari) In the Quran we read: “And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion.” (Alinsan 20) Fortune and bliss which is everlasting, never to be lost, removed or lacking of something. The food in this life It has been proven that the food is causing many problems and illnesses, in addition it needs preparing and work to be preserved and processed. The Prophet (SAAW) said: «The food that children of Adam is consuming, is used as an example for the whole world; after they have salted it, and prepared it, then look what it becomes.» (Ahmed) In referance to that food becomes waste. While in Paradise the food is described as: «And with fruit that they may choose. And with the flesh of fowls that they desire.” (Alwaqi'ah 20-21) Food without any form of costs or preparation. «And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach.” (Alinsan 14) And then we read: « and the fruits of the two Gardens will be near at hand.” (Arrahman 54) «And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls.» (Alinsan 19) Servants in Paradise They are amazing, and they are peaceful, friendly and they serve and respond willingly without force. Drink Wine in this world leads to the loss of many important things: The brain, money and health. While in the hereafter it is not the case; «And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal - Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes).» (Alinsan 15-16) «White, delicious to the drinkers. Neither will they have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.» (Assaffat 46-47) « and their Lord will give them a pure drink.» (Alinsan 21) A pure and clean drink, without causing any unconsiousness or harmful consequences. Sleep Sleeping in this world is not a stable state of mind, as it may be interrupted by nightmares. The Prophet (SAAW) said: «Sleep is brother of Death» (Attabarani) In Paradise there is no sleep, tiredness or illness. Being without sleep in Paradise is an advantage, since one will not miss out on any of the Bliss surrounding everything. Weather In this life the weather is unpredictable, it can increase to a unpleasant level. It may be coldness or heat, sand or snowstorms, and so on. While in Paradise: « they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon).» (Alinsan 13) « and We shall admit them to shades wide and ever deepening (Paradise).» (Annisaa 57) Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "I know the person who will be the last to come out of the (hell) Fire, and the last to enter paradise. He will be a man who will come out of the (hell) Fire crawling, and Allah will say to him, 'Go and enter paradise.' He will go to it, but he will imagine that it had been filled, and then he will return and say, 'O Lord, I have found it full.' Allah will say, 'Go and enter paradise, and you will have what equals the world and ten times as much (or, you will have as much as ten times the like of the world).' On that, the man will say, 'Do you mock at me (or laugh at me) though You are the King?" I saw Allah's Apostle (while saying that) smiling that his premolar teeth became visible. It is said that will be the lowest in degree amongst the people of paradise. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, "I have prepared for My Pious slaves things which have never been seen by an eye, or heard by an ear, or imagined by a human being” . Then he recited: «No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.» (Assajdah 17) O Allah, Let us be among the people of Paradise, in Alfirdaus, and let us enter Paradise without enquiery about what we did in this world. O Allah please don't deny us Paradise... Ameen! Khutba by Sidi Mohamed Ould Cherif |
