”Backbiting – Slip of the
Tung” O Believing Muslims. Today, Insha Allah, we will look at the danger of backbiting, which may lead to great deal of damage, without being intentionally planned. Numerous homes have been destroyed, friendship turned into enmity and family relations have been ignored, all this due to our tungs! Words can be the tools for reaching positive heights, but also, depending on it's content and frame of reference it is uttered, can pull the speecher to the lowest level. Abi Moussa Al-Ashari (raa) said: ”O! Messenger of Allah, which Muslim is the best?” The Prophet (SAAW) anwered: ”He who doesn't harm Muslims, neither with his tung or his hand”. Bukhari and Muslim. If you consider yourself among those who doesn't harm people, you will be guaranteed a big reward from Allah (SWT) rather than those who does the opposite. Abd Allah Ibno Massoud (raa) said: ”I asked the Prophet (SAAW)” ”O! Allahs Messenger, which deed is the best?”. The Prophet (SAAW) answered me, ”Salah on it's proper time” I asked, «What else?» He (SAAW) anwered me ”That people can be safe from your tung” Tabarani. Bilal Ibno Al-Hareth (raa) narrated that the Prophet (SAAW) said: ”A person who says something which pleases Allah (SWT), without paying attetion to it, he will receive acceptance and reward which will increase until Judgement Day. A person who says something which displeases Allah (SWT), without paying attetion to it, he will have his deeds reduced until Judgement Day.” Malik og Tirmidhi.
Muadh Ibn Jabal (raa) said: ” O Allahs Messenger, please give me advice”
The Prophet (SAAW) said: ” Worship Allah as if you see Him, and assess
your self among the dead, and if you like, I will tell something greater
than this”, and he (SAAW) said ”This” pointing his finger towards his
tung. Muadh ibn Jabal (raa) told: ….So he said: ”Shall I inform you
about what is the condition for all this?” I said: ”Yes, O Allahs
Messenger.” Abi Said Al-Khodari (raa) said: ”When a person wakes up in the morning, his organs are expressing «Fear Allah for us, as we are truly dependent upon your deeds. We do notice if these are righteous, and we also notice if these are bad deeds.” Tirmidhi Aslam (raa) told: ”Omar (raa) went to Abu Baker Asadiq (raa) who was in the prosess of pulling his tung out. Omar (raa) said:”May Allah forgive you, what are you doing?” Abu Baker Asadiq replied by saying: ”This (tung) can lead me to catastrophy” Malik. O Brothers, here we are talking about Abu Baker Asediq. Where does that leave us? The tung can truly lead to catastrophies which are difficult to get out of. Abd Allah Ibno Massoud (raa) said: ” I swear with Allah who is God! There is no God besides Him, the tung is most deserving of being kept in arrest” Tabarani. Anas (raa): ”The Prophet (SAAW) said: ”The faith of a Muslim is not steady until the hearth is steady, and the hearth is not steady until the tung is steady” Ahmed.
We
ask Allah to fill us with steadyness and help us to control our tungs to
only utter what is pleasant. O Allah give us knowledge and more of
knowledge. Ameen.
