Scholarships for non-fiction writers of immigrant origin
NFF
has in 2011 allocated Kr 400 000 to scholarships for writers of
immigrant origin who live in Norway and want to establish themselves as
writers in Norway. The scholarship is awarded to support non-fiction
book projects that wish to be published in Norwegian in Norway.
Deadline: 2 May.
Support may take the form of one or more of the following three
elements:
• support for script development. This can be given to non-fiction book
projects that are planned and / or started but not completed. We search
for a given number of work months of NOK 25 000 Grants may be sought for
a period of 1-4 months. The applicant must document copyright as an
author of nonfiction works of nature, which is published or similarly
made available to the public, in Norway or abroad.
• Support for translation into Norwegian if the author writes in his
mother tongue. NFF can help to find a translator.
• Support for language adaptation of the script is written in Norwegian.
Scholarships size is such depending on the size of the script and the
consultant's fees. NFF will assist in finding the language consultant.
Applicants who have been granted support, can make an assessment of the
linguistic and technical quality of its screenplay. But can not in any
way guarantee publication.
It will not be made pre-printed application forms, applicants are
therefore free to design their application. All applications, however,
shall contain:
• Name, address, phone, e-mail, identity number (11 digits), bank
account and tax municipality.
• Background (education, any prior non-fiction or other literary
production).
• Any professional reference.
• Alternatively, if the applicant has contacted the publisher in
connection with the book project.
• Project description (approx. 2 pages) as well as description of the
project will include what kind of shape and scope of the work is
published in thought, target group, the need for the work and schedule.
In addition, it should be attached to a tentative table of contents.
• Explanations for why the project should be supported.
The application should not exceed 4 pages in total (any attachments will
apply).
Application deadline is 2 May 2011. Applications must be postmarked
(make sure the post office stamps the letter the day you submit it) or
delivered NFF secretariat no later than this date. The application must
be sent by registered mail.
