Rowing Regatta 2009 in Tromsø

Since June 1952, Tromsø Roklubb (rowing club) has arranged a rowing regatta using old-style wooden lifeboats. Several teams divided between three classes – men’s, women’s and mixed – take part in the competition.

This year Alnor Senter is participating with a team in the mens class. Seven Brothers have trained for several weeks for the competition. We hope many people will turn up and cheer for the Alnor team. Each team, consisting of six rowers and one coxswain, compete for the best rowing speed and best costume. The competition takes place in Tromsø harbour in the centre of town, near the marketplace, where the crowd of spectators cheer for their favourite teams.The Alnor team is number 9 of 10 teams in the mens class.

This years Regatta is arranged Saturday 20 June.

11:30 Parade preparation at the busstop at Prostneset
11:45 Marching to the town square via Storgata
12:00 The first rowing team sets off 
15:00 Last team finish
20:00 Party at "Driv" Student house. The regatta trophies and diplomas are distributed. In addition to the traveling cup, there is a price for best costume.
