New guest imam to Alnor Center

Alnor Center has invited a new guest imam who will stay in Tromso until after Eid ul-Fitr.

His name is Imad Al Alem, from Malmö, originally from Iraq. He is highly educated in Islamic

Studies. He speaks fluent Swedish, English and Arabic.

Guest Imam visiting Tromsø for Ramadan

Ramadan starts on Monday, 1. August and the first Taraweeh prayer is Sunday evening just after Isha prayer.

Sheikh Abdul Salam Allouch from Lebanon has arrived in Tromsø. Alnor Center has invited Sheikh Abdul Salam
to be a guest imam in Alnor Center in Ramadan. He has a doctor degree in Islamic studies, and is the author of over 80 Islamic books...

On the 2. - 4 September, Minotenk is arranging an intensive training course with a professor of anthropology, Thomas Hylland Eriksen, philosopher and social scientist Lars Gule, psychologist Nadia Ansar and journalist Kristin Havgar, with the introduction of multicultural thinking, management of critical perspectives on tradition and religion, mental aspects of pressure from family and environment, communication and dissemination. All lessons are interactive.

iBønn - The first Norwegain prayer app for Muslims

iBønn ver 1.0 is the first complete iPhone and Android application developed for Norwegian Muslims. It shows the prayer times for several cities in Norway including Tromsø, using the local mosque's timetables. iFaste is Norway's first Ramadan applications for iPhone and Android.

"It was strange. Nice, quiet and comfortable - something special, like Christmas. The alarm rang 3:30 and I woke up Rakia. It was completely silent. We walked to the kitchen; put the yoghurt, breiovet, shebekia, dates, bread, strawberry jam, cheese, coffee and milk, thin cakes, another type of bread and water on the table.
